Your first massage therapy appointment begins with listening, assessment, and a treatment plan tailored to your body.

Booking with a new massage therapist can feel like a small leap of trust.

You may be coming in with neck pain, back tension, headaches, mobility restrictions, stress, or a body that simply feels like it has been compensating for too long. Whatever brings you in, your first appointment at Rise Massage Therapy is designed to be clear, collaborative, and grounded in your actual needs.

We Start With What Is Going On

Before treatment begins, we take time to talk through what brought you in.

This may include your health history, current symptoms, past injuries, work habits, movement patterns, stress levels, and what you are hoping to get out of treatment. If you are dealing with recurring pain, I may ask questions about when it started, what makes it better or worse, and whether it seems connected to posture, repetitive strain, sleep, exercise, or daily routines.

The goal is not to rush into treatment. The goal is to understand the pattern.

Treatment Is Based on Your Body, Not a Template

Massage therapy at Rise is not one-size-fits-all.

Depending on what is appropriate for you, treatment may include targeted massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deeper therapeutic pressure, gentle lymphatic-style drainage, or movement-based assessment.

Some clients need focused work through a specific area. Others need a broader look at how the neck, shoulders, ribs, hips, back, and nervous system are working together. Two people can come in with the same complaint and need very different treatment.

You Stay in Control

Consent, communication, and comfort matter.

Before and during treatment, we will discuss pressure, positioning, areas of focus, and any boundaries or preferences that are important to you. You can ask questions, request changes, or stop treatment at any point.

Massage therapy can be effective without being aggressive. Some areas may feel tender or intense, especially when working with long-held tension, but treatment doesn't need to feel like something you have to endure.

What You May Feel After

Every body responds differently.

Some people feel immediate relief, lighter movement, or a noticeable drop in tension. Others feel more aware of the area that was treated, or notice changes over the next day or two. Depending on the work done, mild soreness can sometimes happen, especially after focused therapeutic treatment.

After your session, we may talk about what showed up during treatment and what simple movement or awareness strategies could help between appointments.
